About The SEPS Campus Safety Program

Personal Safety Training For Female Students

The SEPS (Situation Effective Protection System) Campus Safety Program, is one of the free programs operated by the SEPS Academy ( www.selfdefense-seps.com).

The SEPS system of self-protection and personal safety, teaches individuals how to make risk assessments of the situations that they may find themselves in, and how to create solutions for dealing with them. Rather than give people a long list of rules to follow or prescribe do’s and don’ts that they must adhere to, the SEPS system provides people with a framework for understanding violence, so that they can make the most effective decisions on how to deal with them. Every potentially violent situation you may face will be different, and trying to take a one size fits all approach to personal safety is highly ineffective and may even be dangerous. The SEPS system recognizes that the situation determines the solution rather than the reverse. Once exposed to the SEPS Framework you will be able to make dynamic risk assessments, adopt preventative measures and be able to predict, prevent, identify and avoid violent situations.

The SEPS Campus program is designed for young women who are studying at Universities across the U.S. The program was originally designed for women going away to college for the first time, and equipping them with the most essential personal safety skills. It also recognized that for many young women from certain parts of the country, this could be the first time they would be living in a major city. However the program has ended up being taught to female students in all years of college and university, as the information included in the 6 modules is relevant for all female students regardless of the year they are in. If this is your first time being exposed to the system and its material, you find that it contains important information regarding your safety, whether this is your first or final year and/or whether you live on or off campus.

The SEPS Campus Safety Program, was written by SEPS Co-Founder, Gershon Ben Keren (the Head of the SEPS Academy in the U.S.). Gershon Ben Keren is an author of self-defense books and videos, and has over 20 years of experience, working in the security industry, as both a consultant, a trainer and an operator. He has a Master’s Degree in Psychology, and has spent years conducting research into violence, violent situations and how and why they occur. All of this coupled with his own real world experiences of violence have gone into developing the SEPS Campus Safety Program.
